WELCOME

Khamlia Desert Bed & Breakfast is a family-owned and operated accommodation located in the quaint, desert village of Khamlia. Just minutes from the Sahara Desert on the southeastern edge of Morocco, Khamlia Desert B&B is run by husband & wife duo, Abdoul & Suzanne, along with their dedicated team, Ahmed, Fatima, Khadeja & Khadija. Here you will find true, extraordinary, Moroccan hospitality in this one-of-a-kind oasis that blends traditional Berber, Gnaoua & Irish culture. 

 

Here at Khamlia Bed & Breakfast, we strive for excellence by providing comfort & ease in one of Morocco's most fascinating regions. We want your stay with us not only to be enjoyable but unforgettable, which is why we put hospitality first and foremost. You will be treated like family while you are with us, as we ensure you have the most memorable stay. Set next to the Erg Chebbi dunes of Merzouga, just a camel's ride away from nomadic Berber camps, you will find an experience here like no other - encountering the incredible & vast landscape, breathtaking night skies, and rare and fascinating cultures. *Note that since about 2012 the name of our village is spelt incorrectly on many social media as Khemliya. The only correct name is KHAMLIA.

HERE ARE THE SERVICES WE OFFER

OUR SERVICES
Breakfast Service

 

Enjoy a traditional Berber breakfast of home-baked bread and fresh pancakes enjoyed with locally grown fruits, juices and syrups freshly prepared every morning. Available from 8-10am with a room booking or as a stand-alone service.

 

Tansport Service

 

We are happy to arrange 4x4

transportation to and from the airport should you desire it.  We can design besoke tours to suit your budget, schedule and interests.  We are also happy to help you plan your own route if you are a  self drive and plan to stay with us. 

Lunch & Dinner Service
 

Enjoy our delicious two-course lunch menu, served daily for two or more people for just €12 per person. Fancy a Berber pizza? Have that instead for €15. Our evening menu includes three traditional courses, prepared seasonally, for just €15 per person. Reservations required.

Swimming Pool

 

We can provide passes for a comfortable  swimming pool located within walking distance from our B&B. Passes cost €10 per person and include swim time plus one beverage. Towels are also available upon request.

Rooms

Our traditionally built Berber rooms offer a cozy retreat in the heart of the desert. Each room comes with air-conditioning, a private bathroom, and Wi-Fi. Relax in the quiet of our lounge before stepping onto the terrace, where the Saharan night sky turns spectacular after sunset.
Breakfast is included with every stay, while lunch and dinner can be reserved separately.

Bicycle Rental
 

Explore the village with our €15 bicycle rentals. You will be delighted with the rich variety of locations to explore on our route maps, as well as full and half day planned routes. The nimble way to discover the desert!

“Wow, what a place! Stunning. Everything about it was perfect, the bedroom, the bed, the shower, the common areas, the terrace, the stars at night, the village, the gnaoua music, the villagers and especially Abdoul, the owner. He could not have been more helpful or friendly.

The dinner was Moroccan lamb tagine and it was by far the nicest I had in Morocco and the kitchen was spotless. I rented one of the bikes and cycled to Taous about 20km away. Abdoul made a packed lunch for me and gave me lots of information about the journey and offered that I visit his sister for tea when I got there. He also gave me a local mobile phone for the journey so I could get in touch in case I got a puncture or anything.
 
Incredible hospitality and very reasonable price. I wish I had been able to stay longer. Would definitely recommend this little place. Hopefully, someday I will be able to go back. Thank you, Abdoul.
